Newry Mourne and Down District Council is helping local SME’s to improve their chances of winning new business. An upcoming ‘Meet the Buyer’ supplier engagement event will give local SME’s the unique chance to have one to one discussions with key procurement teams from within major organisations. The event aim is to help local SME’s to gain the confidence, knowledge and practical skills necessary to successfully gain public and private sector contracts with their organisations.
Scheduled to take place on Thursday 23rd September, the event will bring together procurement teams from Business Services Organisation (BSO) Procurement and Logistics Service (PaLS), MJM Marine, Louth County Council and Newry & Mourne District Council amongst others.
The Meet the Buyer – Supplier Engagement event is part funded by Invest Northern Ireland and the European Regional Development Fund under the Investment for Growth & Jobs Northern Ireland (2014 -2020) programme.
Speaking about the upcoming supplier engagement event, Councillor Cathy Mason, Chair of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council said:
“I am delighted to be hosting this Meet the Buyer event, which gives local businesses from a range of sectors across our Council area the opportunity to meet with some of the region’s leading health, manufacturing and business organisations, who are increasingly looking to further their local supply bases in light of recent issues around Brexit and Covid-19.
“The event aims to show SME’S that they can tender and win work from local organisations. It is their chance to tell potential new customers and clients about the fantastic work that they do or the products they supply. The goal is to help local businesses to connect with these successful organisations and hopefully it will lead to some exciting business deals.”
Cllr Mason continued:
“Despite the ongoing situation regarding Covid19 regulations, the Council’s Business Support team is committed to helping local SME’s grow their business and this event will be a great chance for them to get on board with future procurement opportunities. We will host the event virtually, so even more businesses should be able to access it online safely and from wherever they are. We hope as many businesses as possible will join us on 23rd September to learn more about what these significant buyers are looking for, how best to approach them and increase their chances of securing new procurement contracts.”
